What Does ACONE Do?
- Presents the Annual New England Adoption Conference for all who are touched by adoption, with specific tracks for birth parents, adopted people, adoptive parents and those considering adoption.
- Maintains the Mental Health Services Provider and Physical Health Serves Provider Databases.
- Publishes ACONE News, providing listings of adoption and foster care related events and publications, national and regional adoption news, current legislative information, book reviews and more.
- Supports all members of the triad with information, programming and support groups, specifically for adopted persons, birth family members and adoptive families.
- Presents seminars about starting the adoption process, preparing to bring home your child, and ongoing educational programs.
- Monitors and reports on developments in adoption; develops policy statements and promotes best practices.
- Advocates for legislative change and acts as an organized voice for all those touched by adoption.
- Promotes projects to aid children waiting for permanency.
- Supports a network of chapters throughout New England providing social, educational and /or support opportunities.
- Develops Sharing the Journey, a database for members.
