School and Your Child: Get Ready for the New School Year

Wednesday, August 17, 2011 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Schools have a significant impact on children's self-esteem and welfare. For those who came to their families by adoption/foster care, there can be challenges not faced by other children. Learn to recognize how children's losses impact their experience in the classroom and how schools can accommodate these children without changing their curriculum's goals and objectives.

Presented by Joan Lefler Clark, MEd, former Executive Director, ACONE, Inc., Founder of Adoptions Explained LLC, adoption educator and advocate. Joan taught for 16 years before adopting. She brings to the discussion strategies that are more readily accepted by school personnel.
