Those in the nursing profession are in a key position to be in contact with patients whose lives are touched in some way by adoption. Primary care, Ob/Gyn, Community Health and Pediatric offices as well as schools are just a few of the settings where nurses play a vital role in supporting those in the adoption and foster care community. Adopted children, adopted adults, pre-adoptive parents, adoptive parents, birth mothers and families formed through foster care all require medical assistance throughout their lives and all would benefit from healthcare professionals who are sensitive to their unique needs. This workshop will provide attendees with a broad range of information associated with the multi-faceted issues related to patients with adoption and foster care histories.
Presented by registered nurse, Jennifer Blake and psychotherapist and educator, Anne Coleman.
